Students do use derogatory or inappropriate words in class to bully others, which may be quite frequent or just once in a while. You as a teacher have to cut back on any inappropriate language usage in class as soon as it comes to your notice. Initially, it would be enough to have a detailed discussion with them as a part of the ‘empathy education’ as it will at least make them uncomfortable doing it again. They wouldn’t want to have a long touchy conversation once more and if nothing else, they will not do it for the sake of avoiding it.
