Gopal Narayan Akshikar started primary and secondary schools in Dadar in 1889 to educate the children of the sparsely populated working class. Today, 133 years have passed since this incident. The sapling planted by him has turned into a big tree today. The appropriate name given to the institute as General Education Institute is being carried forward by the present board of directors of the institute.
