About the organization
The Vikasa School at Tuticorin, a Unit of PSTS Foundation, is run with a motive of imparting quality education to the fast developing Port- town. The school started with 64 children in a rented building in June 1996. Now it is housed in 2 buildings with a built-in area of 43150 Sq.ft with around 2000 children as its student strength and with over 175 members of the teaching faculty.
The school is affiliated to the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examination, New Delhi, which is an All-India Board and the children appear for ICSE examination in class X and ISC in class XII.
School has etched its name in this town within its short life span of 17 years by achieving position in the All India Child Genius Contest conducted by Star TV network. School children also have achieved the highest grades in the IAIS examinations in English, Sciences and Computer Skills conducted by Educational Assessment Australia (EAA-UNSW). One of our students was invited to attend Youth for Leadership in Science by Central Electrochemical Research Institute, at SIKRI Karaikudi, for the scores achieved in the ICSE examinations. Our swimming team is a force to reckon within South Tamil Nadu and has State level swimmers in its ranks.
One child from our school came All-India fourth in the India Child Genius contest and had the privilege of meeting Dr.Abdul Kalam at his residence. Two of our children were awarded Gold Award for the International Award for Young people formally known as Duke of Edinburgh award and they had the privilege of receiving the award from Vice President of India Shri. M. Hamid Ansari. One child was selected for an all-expenses-paid visit to Russia by securing 3rd position in the All-India Student Scientific Expedition to Russia "Heliodyssey 2008". One student for securing All India First and Cash Award in "Young Bulls Money Challenge" 2009.
