Happiness is the greatest human expression. It can be said that the ultimate aim of all human beings is to achieve happiness in their lives. Across the world, education administrators are realizing the need for happiness or well being lessons for children. Self- aware, sensitive and emotionally mature children are for more successful owing to their advanced ability to engage in meaningful relationship. The purpose of education is not just to push students continuously to get good marks but it is also to create an environment where a student is happy, confident and self aware. Students in the 21st century face a lot of issues on a daily basis, be it exam pressure, peer pressure, depression or psychological factors. They need an environment which keeps them happy. Schools should help in creating a milieu of cheerfulness, where students not only grow academically but also focus on the all round development. Thus, I want the parents to play a pivotal role here in forming an amiable and congenial ambience for the students because happy parents are likely to have happy kids, while children of depressed parents suffer twice the average rate of depression. It can only be possible if parents enjoy their relationship with their kids. It is all about spending quality time with each other. “ If you want your children to turn out well, spend twice on much time with them, and half as much money.” Finally, happiness studies consistently link feelings of gratitude to emotional well being. It instills optimism among the students, so teach them to accept failure, develop self-esteem, focus less on compliments and more on providing opportunities to learn new skills. The important thing is to make it a regular ritual. It will foster all kinds of positive emotions which can lead to lasting happiness.
