About Karmapa Center of Education

The Karmapa Center of Education is led by an international team, and a small monastic community living at the school. They take care of management, administrative work and the maintenance of KCE, backed by a network of external advisors and volunteers. The monks also teach Tibetan and the basics of Buddhism. Tibetan housemothers are responsible for the motherly care of our elementary students. This involves taking care of ill or homesick children; being available to comfort, advise and support them in their daily lives; and creating a space where they feel safe. Indian teachers implement the general education curriculum, complemented by international guest educators. They all contribute to the running of the KCE – as a school and a place of community.
